Positon will oversee and direct the implementation of major projects, programs and operational changes as assigned by the Director, Clinical Operations. Develop comprehensive plans for operational flow patterns, work flow and controls. Set in place proper monitoring measures. Maintain a consultative relationship with division chiefs for strategic planning and operational matters. Together with division chiefs provide monitoring, consulting and supervision to managers/supervisors of the clinical practice. Foster and maintain a close working relationship with nursing, peri-operative and ambulatory services management for the purpose of integrating hospital programs and policies with the clinical practice; coordinate communication and organization among key stakeholders in relation to clinical practice activities.
Responsibilities will include:
Work with division chiefs and their managers/supervisors to plan and organize operational and communication systems for divisions, clinics, and the Institute.
Routinely hold meetings and organize project teams for the clarification of issues, communication of guidelines and information, problem solving, and team development.
Provide administrative oversight to managers of clinics, developing policies and oversee the implementation and monitoring of services and set guidelines for effective, efficient and patient centered operations.
Work closely with Director of Finance and billing director to lead revenue recovery functions with John Hopkins Medicine and implement effective protocols for these support services into the practice, including requirements secondary to internal audits.
Work with managers/supervisors with Director of Billing to oversee coordination of studies and their patients as they interface with the billing systems. Assist in determining most cost effective way to bill for services and manage the process.
Work with Director of Finance, IT and managers to achieve ongoing comprehensive reporting of all clinical activity; and to develop and automate activities which will offer economies of scale and increased productivity.
Work with division and satellite chiefs and their managers/supervisors, Director of Finance, Director Qf Wilmer Billing and JHU Physician Billing services supervisors to identify, develop and oversee implementation of operation-wide systems that further automate or enhance patient and revenue flow. Present and foster improvement initiatives and service excellence in the practice and monitor patient satisfaction. In conjunction with Patient Relations, lead managers in developing strategies for improving patient satisfaction. <
Track clinical practice revenues. Implement systems to provide proper controls, analysis and good business practice.
Review or prepare business plans for existing units or potential new business opportunities, as requested by Administrator.
Forecast budgets and/or provide guidelines for forecasts with subordinates and coordinates with Director of Finance.
Oversee budget preparation when appropriate. Review expenditures and reconciliation of accounts.
Work with Director of Finance and Administrator to develop overall strategy for expenditure control and revenue growth.
Work with Department of Strategic Planning & Marketing (and other marketing resources as needed) to initiate, develop and implement marketing plans for Wilmer clinical services. Identify new marketing opportunities for Wilmer compatible with the direction of Johns Hopkins Medicine.
Assist the Director, Clinical Operations in strategic planning, special projects and serve on hospital committees as directed.
Responsible for recommending staffing needs and job classification; assure compliance with all internal, external and regulatory policies.
Work with Human Resources manager and department to staff development initiatives within the Institute and promote career development initiatives at the managerial level.
Guide subordinates in development efforts for themselves and their subordinate staff. Interview, hire, train, supervise, discipline/terminate and assign managerial, supervisory and support staff as needed. Assure compliance by supervisory staff of proper personnel practices.
Perform other duties as required.
Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or other related field. Seven years progressively responsible professional level administrative and financial experience related to monetary or non-monetary resources of a department, center, or unit, including 2 years financial management experience (e.g., planning, directing, monitoring, organizing, and controlling monetary and non-monetary resources). Master's degree in a related field may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
JHU equivalency formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience.
