Job Purpose The Office of Partnerships and Outreach within the Division of Innovation and Applied Research at Towson University is accepting applications for a Digital Content Specialist. The Digital Content Specialist helps to execute comprehensive social media strategies that furthers the local and regional visibility of the Division; highlights the Division's work in support of Baltimore Towson University (BTU) Partnerships at Work for Greater Baltimore; and furthers the national visibility of the Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities (CUMU). The employee can effectively tell a story in 140 characters, 600 words, and through photographs and videos; writes, schedules, posts, and monitors digital content while managing multiple deadlines; develops email marketing campaign content to promote interest in and drive attendance of events; regularly monitors and analyzes metrics using Google Analytics and platform-native tools; and strives to identify and report on trends and opportunities to better highlight and promote the services and expertise of the Division in support of BTU—Partnerships at Work for Greater Baltimore.
Description Implementation of social media accounts for engagement with target audiences as directed. Primary channels include but are not limited to Facebook and Twitter. Provides support for additional social media channels, including but not limited to YouTube, LinkedIn, Google+, and Flickr. Researches new trends. Reviews analytics to report on effectiveness of social media channels in meeting their goals. Develops social media campaigns. Implementation of blog posts and website content. Maintains analytics to report on web channels in meeting their goals. Maintains knowledge of search engine optimization (SEO) best practices and apply those strategies to blog posts. Support the implementation of email campaigns to drive interest in and attendance of events related to the Division, CUMU, and BTU. Special projects as assigned.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field; two year's of related experience; strong problem-solving skills; comfortable publishing and managing social media accounts; excellent communications skills; has a keen sense of visual communications; adept at crafting compelling stories and content; strong time management skills; professional demeanor; and knowledge of use and best practices of user interface design for social media. Preferred: Background in writing or communications; experience using customer relationship management (CRM) and content management system (CMS) tools; technologically savvy; and proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
A Criminal Background Investigation is required for the hired candidate and the results may impact employment.
Salary and Benefits $45,000 and an annually renewable contract with subsidized benefits. Contractual employees scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage. The position is contingent on funds being available at time of hire.
