The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), -School of Medicine - Office of Medical Education is currently recruiting for an Academic Services Specialist. The Academic Services Specialist performs a variety of professional and administrative duties to support of day-to-day operations of the Introduction to Clinical Medicine courses (ICM I, ICM II, ICM III, & ICM IV) for the undergraduate medical student education program.

Coordinates medical school courses and related activities to develop and market a distinctive image for the academic program by scheduling small groups, events, lectures, and faculty teaching sessions; dissemination of program materials to students, faculty, and preceptors; and compiling and grading examinations and monitoring assignments for all ICM related courses.
Organizes AHEC site assignments. Establishes and nurtures relationships with external AHEC site locations for 4th year student placement, where students will be provided an opportunity to synthesize the medical knowledge and practices learned from 3rd year. Requires identifying viable sites in key regions of Maryland (Eastern Shore, Southern Maryland, Western Maryland, and Baltimore City) and adjoining states identified as being underserved rural and urban communities.
Function as an integral point of contact for confidential faculty/course evaluation process including drafting analyses and reports to be shared with faculty and course managers.
Act as a liaison between medical students, Department of Medicine faculty, and the Office of Medical Education to ensure that course objectives are achieved.
Researches best practices and develops or streamlines procedures for registration and other operations.
Coordinates and organizes service learning site assignment which is mandatory curriculum component of ICM I and ICM II.
Assesses academic status and alerts mentor or program manager to potential problems.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field. Directly related experience to administration of a program.
Experience: Three (3) years of related experience of a program, preferably in higher education or healthcare setting.
Other: Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
